i got this virus thing which i got no idea what it is, but what it does is it copies itself and pastes it into random files...or every single file in my computer, from pictures, music, games, and a lot of window files. kaspersky removed and quarteened them, but everytime i quarteen a trojan, another one spawns up and generates new viruses.

should i just boot up a linux from hard drive, go to my computer, and select the entire window folder and push the delete button to wipe it clean and reformat again? will the virus be history? i know the virus doesnt transfer itself when i switch internal hard drives on my computer.

btw, i really dont want to reformat, i got this virus just as i formatted my hard drive and spend a day installing the drivers and the +100 vista updates

Ya just reformat and do a FULL format when reinstalling Windows. When your done make sure to download Ccleaner a squared free spybot and defraggler for faster defragging. Hope this helps.

Well, if you are keen on not reformatting... do this. Grab Ubuntu x86(not x64) boot from cd, install the avast .deb file. Scan your windows partition... should work. Best of luck.

Yeah, reformat it. a clean install of windows + reformat takes about 10-15 minutes for me, tops.

Judging by your current situation, a full reformat is the best option. How did you get this virus may I ask?

I doubt it, with the amount of clean streaming sites out there. I say its downloading from P2P networks, torrents or warez sites.

Have you tried MalwareBytes? It's pretty good at removing stuff.

As others have said, full reformat is your best bet, with the Ubuntu suggestion coming in at a reasonable second place.

No wonder you have so many. You'd probably even get a non-Windows machine infected with habits like that. After you reformat to clear your hard drive of all that cyber-AIDS, I'd suggest you triple-check exactly what it is you install and run on your computer from now on, for all the OS security measures in the world will be bypassed by a user intent enough on installing a Trojan horse, usually since said user doesn't even know it's one until it's way too late.

Kaspersky is good antivirus, definitely one of the best, but when you have that many detected viruses and trojans, like stated earlier, only one thing will do, total eradication of all files, innocent or not! HDD wipe.

Ok, the ONLY way to stop it by reformatting your hard drive by using the OS installer disk. If you want to reformat it by this way, make sure that the CD/DVD rom drive is always set to 'First Boot Device' and then the primary hdd, HDD-0 is set to 'Second boot Device' on the bios option. Then, exit and insert the OS installer disk and then press any key to start the reformatting process. If you're still didn't reformat your hdd, you're are at worse situation which you're can't use the pc after the viruses infect your pc.

Yeah, reformat it. a clean install of windows + reformat takes about 10-15 minutes for me, tops.

knight0151

Sure it does..... While the installation of Windows can be done is about 20 minutes on a good machine, a proper format (not a quick format) can take near an hour depending on the size of your hard drive. After that comes the Windoes install, after that comes the endless installation of drivers then reinstalling apps + anti virus and configuring everything back to they way you want it. I full format plus bringing my PC back to the way I like it takes about 3 hours. Which is really how it should be worked out.

Unless you use disk imaging, in which case can be done in 2 minutes again depending on just how much stuff you have on your backup image.

I really need to remember to make onenext time I format, I keeping forgetting.

Reformat. Just make sure you choose full format and not quick format. Rather than trying to find solution to delete all the virus you have it will take you less to reformatt and install everything from beginning

Would you people STFU saying that formatting is the ONLY option, sure its the easiest and most sure to do the job but it can be removed with hard work aswell, i have removed this virus multiple times in the past. Like some other guy said you can also try botting off of a linux disk then installing avast and running a Full scan.

I think you can burn a boot disk with Kaspersky for an offline scan, I'm pretty sure I've done that once. EDIT: Here is a link Kaspersky Rescue Disk.

I don't think people mean its the only solution and you're right it isn't. But if it is that bad you are best off just wiping it and trying to save your personal files other than spend hours scanning and picking them out one by one.

How and the hell did you contract such a virus like that? I rarely get any viruses/trojans, so I'm going to assume it's because of your porn adventures :) So simple way to remove all virues and trojans is to reformat the whole hard drive. So reformat and watch the sites you go to!
