Yes it will be faster, and more stable than running 4 DIMMS. If you plan on overclocking the 2 sticks og 1GB is also better.DuckshotI plan on using all 4 sticks, 2x512 along with 2x1gb to make 3gb total. Not sure if you got that or not. I do want to OC my cpu, but not to really high levels, just a little.
Make sure the new RAM is compatible with the old. You'll run into a lot of trouble if you don't check what type of RAM you currently have.YoZbaNaToRI have Patriot Extreme Performance PC3200 DDR400. How do I check if it's compatible?

I do want to OC my cpu, but not to really high levels, just a little. I had this setup (2x512MB + 2x1GB DDR2) on my previous setup. It will work without any problem. But as some one said, RAM clock will work at slowest speed that is PC3200 mode. But combo will work.
