Hello. I have two video cards: Geforce 9800 GTX2 ( I believe to be 512mb.) and the other Geforce GT 220 FTW Edition (I believe to be 1gig.) Obviously 1gig is more than 512mb but does that make it better? I'd like what is best for gaming in my computer so any feed back as to which one? Oh and I can't find much information on the Geforce GT 220 FTW Edition thats why I really would like feed back. Thanks!

I know nothing of the GtX200 series, but I know that based on Nvidia's numbering scheme that the 220 will not be a very powerlful card at all.

They better cards always start out in the 60's, such as Gtx460, 560. So I am assuming that this goes as well for the 200 series.

Anyhow, the 9800GTX was a top of the line card for the 9000 series cards at the time and is still a pretty beefy card. I willgaurantee that the 9800GTX will blow away the GTX220.

Edit: and that is even with the extra512MBof RAM for the GTX220. That extra RAM is pretty much useless for gaming since I really doubt that card can even do any high resolution gaming at high settings.

The difference between the 9800GTX2 and the GT220 is like night and day. The 9800GTX2 will blow the 220 out of the water. And when it lands again, do the same thing. You can't even compare the 2. In this case, the amount of memory the card has is irrelevant.

No biggie, you didnt need to mention the manufacturer. Anyone in here with the tiniest bit of knowlege knows the numbering system of Nvidia and can identify thier cards in a second.

Just to support the previous answers, the 9800 is a clear winner.

The 9800 gtx2 doesn't exist, The 9800 gtx does and the 9800 gx2. The gt 220 is in all cases the weaker, the 9800 gtx is not a bad card, that's like a hd 5750 or gts 250 or gts 450. A mid end card. The 9800 gx2 is somewhat stronger, that's like a gtx 460 , a hd 6850 or gtx 285 All cards have no dx 11 though. The fact that the gt 220 has 1 gig doesn't really matter compared to the 9800 gtx or 9800 gx2. The 9800 gtx is a lot stronger and the 9800 gx2 is even more stronger even with 512mb.

Depends on what resolution you play on. The 9800 gx2 will max out all games on 720p (1280 x 720). There maybe some exceptions like metro2033 and the witcher 2. It will have some problems maxing out the heavier games on 1080p (1920 x 1080p) also because of the 512 mb. Memory does matter but you will never get the same quality with the gt220. The chipset is way more important.

The 9800 gx 2 was released in march 2008. It may be a 3.5 year old card but the launch price was 600$, so top end material. It's like a gtx 460 and today that's considered mid-end for high resolutions like 1080p. It's still high end for lower resolutions like 1280 x 720 (for widescreen) or 1280 x 1024 (normal screen (4:3)). It has no dx11 but that's not an big issue.

So pretty much set everything to high or very high, see what works best for you, if you have a bad framerate you will notice it pretty fast. A lot of games have an ingame fps meter, but you can also do it with a program called fraps (www.fraps.com). You can download it free and measure your fps with it. A minimum of 30 fps is needed to have a good gaming experience.

Performance also depends on what cpu you have. A dual core of 2.2 ghz will bottleneck this card, a quad core of 2.4 ghz won't. Windows vista & windows 7 support dx10 & dx11, windows xp only supports dx9. Ram is also important, how much ram do you have?

3.20ghz quad core. 3 gigs ram. Windows XP. Red Orchestra 2 on High Quality settings (In game) and Quality settings (Visual Settings on the NVIDIA control Panal) runs smooth but I will try using Fraps.

to the above poster sorry but no its really not. the fastest cards available are the hd6990 and the gtx 590 which are pretty much on par. to tc that card should be able to handle any game on high-very high sttings at 720p or a bit higher 1080p it will have issues with higher end games but the majority of games wll run fine at high+

You will get better quality using windows 7 or vista (preferably win7, it's faster, more reliable and stable) because of the dx 10 support. The 3 gigs of ram should be sufficient(just close other windows and programs hen you start gaming)

lol know. You sound like you work at PC world or something, trying to sell old cards. 9800GX2 was top of the range about 3 or 4 years ago. Now it's considered mid range.
