Hello fellow hermits!
I am interested in getting a new screen for my rig... so yeah as the title says which one is more suited resolution wise for gaming?

Both are fine - depends on your budget and the other factors on the monitor such as the response time..
If there a minimial price difference between the two - get the 22 inch..
BTW - what graphics card do you have, as it is a factor in choosing the right monitor/resolution..
EDIT - Ohh by the way - I have no idea why you use the term 'hermits' - leave that in systems wars - not everyone that's in this PC hardware forum is a fanboy/girl.

Ah sorry forgot to mention that 8800GTS 640MB
Hmm so both are fine? I kept stumbling up reviews of 22 wide screens and the complains contained that some games that doesnt support wide screen looks weird due to the resolution..
Money aint an issue so a 22 would not really be a problem..
Next question is this:
HP W2207
or
Syncmaster 226BW

Newer games will probably have the resolution but most games now a days don't have the resolution to fit the screen.

So yer saying a wide screen is a bad buy atm?
Should I stick with my 19 inch then?
The Samsung is sweet as i have one, there's a whole website dedicated to running non widescreen games in widescreen www.widescreengamingforum.com/ so check it out.
If money isn't a problem you could lookat the new 24" Samsung which is surprisingly cheap compared toother models.
20" LCD all the way. It has same resolution as 22", so that means 20" has smaller pixle and more sharp image quality. And i must recommend you to at least consider this great NEC 20WGX2 Pro, which is fantastic LCD. S-IPS panel, 6ms response time (2ms GTG, identical to 226BW), much better colors compared to 226BW and much better viewing angles. Its great LCD IMO.
EDIT: I also just read that yousad that money isnt issue so definatly i recommend NEC 20WGX2 Pro which can be found for around 500$ these days i think.

That Samsung 24" isnt surprisingly cheap. Its crappy LCD. It uses worst TN panel, thats why its so cheap compared to high quality Dell 24" LCD or other.
If money is not an option...and you have the space requirements, then go with the 22"tryfe_lyn
Wrong. This is the worst answer you could offer. All 22" LCD uses crappy TN panels. He should go whit 22" LCD only if money is issue. Otherwise some quality 20" LCD whit S-IPS, S-PVA panel (Dell 2007WFP, NEC 20WGX2) all the way.
Just because the monitor uses a TN panel doesn't make it crap. Just less good than MVA/PVA/IPS panel monitors.
Like the AMD64 X2 isn't crap just because the Core 2 Duo beats it. It's good for the price.
Crap is a TN panel on a low-quality monitor like those from Sceptre, Chimei, KDS or Acer for example.

It is crap compared to better panels. He also stated that money isnt issues, so i just wanted to warn him, whit recommendation of better panels. And for me TN is crappy panel, and sorry if i sound like i want the best from the best, but when you see S-IPS panel in action you think so.
To be honest and no disrepect to Domke13 unless you have a) used a S-IPS panel or b) have one to hand to compare them then any of the screens we've all mentioned in this post will be a very nice addition to your PC, best bet if you can is go to a store that has them on display and take a look and make your own mind up as to which one is best. Don't buy it from the store of course make sure you order it online to save yourself a few quid. danny_stapleton
I actually find it pretty smart to go look at it to store and buy it at that same store too. That way you can check LCD for dead pixles, while online you cant. And i agree. Somebody who never saw S-IPS, S-PVA panel will probably be happy whit TN panel. I personally also didnt notice difference at first, when my dad bough TN panel long time ago. It had TN panel, and i did notice poor vertical viewing angle. Than whit my new PC i made jump to 19" P-MVA panel LCD, and now recently upgraded to S-IPS. And i can tell you there is huge difference betwen S-IPS and P-MVA, not to mention TN againts S-IPS. I found it much more enjoyable playing oblivion whit these great colors.
