By anyone's standards, 2007 was a bleak year for PC game sales when you compare them against console sales. I've been playing on the PC since Starcraft and Diablo II, and I can't find any really good reasons to dish out cash for new hardware anymore. Last summer, since I knew a bunch of great games were coming out for consoles, I bought an Xbox 360. I literally cannot find a reason to switch back to PC gaming right now.
I've tried the Crysis demo, I own the Orange Box and Call of Duty 4 on both PC and Xbox, and I'm really not all that impressed. My computer is no slouch, with 3 GB or RAM, a Core 2 Quad Q6600, and a 7900GS. I can no longer justify paying for an 8800 GT to keep up with the advancements mid-range enthusiast hardware. I played BF2 and CSS at CAL, TWL, and TGL level until late 2006, and the community isn't the same anymore.
Other than Starcraft 2, no PC games have managed to hold my attention so far this year. Are there any FPS titles that I've missed, especially the ones with well developed multiplayer? I'd love to get back into PC gaming, but I just really can't find any incentives at all. So, what does PC gaming have to offer this year? If it's not better than last year's offerings, this will be a downhill trend for just about every game except WoW.
*Now is the time of year when gaming news should be coming out at its fastest, because its after CES and still before E3 (or at least that's how it used to work, E3 has been mostly killed off by its own host company)*
