24" or 22" monitor to play Crysis

I'm trying to decide which monitor size to buy: 24" or 22" to best experience Crysis. I've already spent a fortune buying a new computer (specs below) I don't mind paying for a 24". Can I play Crysis on a 24" at its native 1920 x 1200 and at high or very high settings? Some people are recommending a 22" and play Crysis at non-native 1600 x 1200 at high or very high settings. Can this be done? this resolution is larger than than the 22" native resolution 1680 x 1050 (vs. 1600 x 1200).

My rig: Duo 6550, 8800 GTS, 4GB, Vista

If I were you I'd probably get the 24". No I don't think your GPU can handle those settings at that resolution but the thing is that most 22" screens aren't great quality. I would get a 24" and lower the resolution.Koinuboy

The samsung 226BW ( I think that's what its called, someone correct me if I am wrong) is excellent quality. Honestly, I'd go for a smaller one since crysis is so demanding. At 1900X1200 you are looking at medium settings with no AA, at 1680x1050 you are looking at a mix of med and high and you'll be getting better performance. You won't play on all high or very high at those resolutions, since the 8800GTS can barely play on very high at 1024x768 (20 FPS)

I have the samsung 226BW, best 22" monitor out there. I have it, works like a charm with my 8800GTS 320MB, I even installed an old Syncmaster 941 19" monitor as a secondary display, no better way to say NERD than to have 2 monitors :D spam-Robot

Id have to disagree and say my LG22WA beats my syncmaster 226BW both in picture and features.

not at all possible. still if you can afford it, get the 245B samsung. Otherwise id get a l226wa. Just because you cant utlise the full res for crysis dont mean other games cant use it

I'm afraid so. But you shouldn't have problems with other games.

Using Crysis as the deciding factor is the problem here. Unless EVERYTHING in your rig is absolute top-of-the-line (and even if it is), Crysis is going to virtually kick its ass. The game is just too much for current hardware to handle without giving some manner of stretch room, somewhere - be it resolution or settings.

Get whatever you think the best monitor is, and enjoy it. Don't worry if you can't run Crysis at the highest resolution; just enjoy your sweet huge monitor!

What is the point in buying a LCD with a crazy native res if you cant max it out.

As long as the monitor does not have scaling issues - there will be no problems running games at a lower resolution than the native resolution - and in Windows you will get more workspace which is also useful.
