The NES and Sega Master System were 8bit, The SNES and Mega Drive were 16bit, PSX and Sega Saturn were 32bit, Nintedo64 was... you guessed it, 64bit, The Dreamcast, PS2 and XBOX were 128bit.

Are the next gen consoles 256bit or do we not use this definition anymore?

Umm.. Wouldnt that have to be a LOT of ram? or is it different with consoles

256 bit is unnecessary.

The Dreamcast and the Xbox are both "32-bit consoles." The only console that can be considered 128-bit is the PS2, and even that's open to debate.

The "bit rating" isn't used anymore because processors these days are so fast and complex, the register size (bit rating) isn't a clear indication of performance anymore. In fact, all three next generation consoles are considered 64-bit (64-bit cores).

i have kept track on how many bit are in a console so yes new gen consoles are 256 bits
