2k has announced work on a sequel to one of the xbox360's earlier titles "the darkness"

rather than being done by starbreeze like the first one its being handed off to digital extremes (dark sector)

jackie makes his return now as a boss of the mob just as a full fledged gang war is about to erupt..

better make way for the dude with demonic powers.. hes gonna beat you silly.

I really liked the first one, quite an underrated game. Hopefully this one will be good as well.

Agreed! i loved the first one! i hope the second one will be better though... What scares me is that its not the same Dev who made the first one...

Oh god new developer and new engine, this can't be good. That screenshot is hideous, I think it's running on Unreal Engine 2.5

Agreed. The screenshot is pathetic. I loved The Darkness. It had a certain charm to it, that no other game has. Starbreeze did an exceptional job with it...Hopefully it does not get ruined...

Just when i was asking myself what starbreeze and didgital extremes do nowadays. Its better to be doen by digital extremes. Starbreeze latest fps had crappy aiming controls. Both pc and console.

Riddick has fine aiming on PC (Vsync causes mouse lag so turn that off)

Secondly how is DE any better? They made Dark Sector and Bioshock 2 MP, doesn't come close to what Starbreeze has accomplished.

Well, my point would be the fact that Starbreeze made The Darkness the game as we know it. Shooting with regular weapons was a bit off, but the game itself was outstanding. So, i would not really look into what Starbreeze has made recently, but the fact that they should KNOW what it takes to create The Darkness 2. I would not complain if it was more of the same, with improved technology behind it.

I liked the first one and I prefer that Starbreeze worked on the sequel as well. It could have given them the chance to improve their game. I am disappointed to hear that Digital Extremes has taken helm over the sequel because Dark Sector was extremely average.

First-person shooting gunplay aside, can Digital Extremes capture that magic that Starbreeze did with The Darkness? We all know we didn't play that game to shoot. The story and dialogue were brilliant.

This is very disappointing news, I love Starbreeze. I really didn't enjoy Dark Sector at all, so I have very low expectations for this game.

What I would actually care about is the first game being ported to the PC

First of all, its been a very long time since i played the original riddick. I have the darkness on ps3 and the aiming is crap. Dark sector was awesome on pc. Perfect control, well optimized and admitedly i liked the story much better than the darkness. To me, both starbreeze and DE are weak. I wouldnt say one has "Accomplished" more than the other.

I agree that The Darkness has bad aiming on consoles, a PC version would have fixed that. But Dark Sector having a better story then The Darkness? Whaaaaaaat. No other game I've played has such an emotinal gripping story as The Darkness, plus the voice acting is superb and the soundtrack amazing

Emotional grispping is not the right word for dark sector's story. You have to play it multiple times to understand exactly what is going on. There are bits and pieces of information here and there. Personally i found the darkness to be pretty average with amazing graphics and crappy aiming. I mean, you just walk up some stairs and suddenly you get tentacles with teeth coming out of your back. What an un-epic way to get your powers.

Same thing with The Darkness, you don't get the full story just like that. There's a backstory to why you suddely spawn The Darkness

Well, it's more than that. There's a comic with the game (I think you unlock it) that explains how The Darkness infected your ancestor

The first game is pretty good. Really went overlooked. I'm kind of looking forward to the sequel. It's not the same developer. It's the developer behind Dark Sector and the MP component of Bioshock 2.Take that as you will :)

The first went under the radar for most. It was actually a pretty damn good game. I can't wait to play this one of the PC though.

First was good but could be improved in a lot of way. Hopefully this one is good, I enjoyed using the powers in the first, and always love duel wielding pistols.

Did you guys know former GS executive Editor Greg Kasavin works at 2k? I think he's a producer there.

Probably my favorite reviewer ever at GS.

Then what about the lack of widescreen support? Also, Dark Sector isn't a story based game, The Darkness is.

I loved the darkness, im a big comic book fan as well as a fan of anything with mike pattons name on it. Nobody else can do a demon voice quite like patton. I wish starbreeze did the sequel as well though, they made two classics and one meh game that happened to also have digital extremes involved. Although digital extremes did do some awesome work in the unreal tournament series, they were what was missing from ut3.

My monitor worked just fine. So i cant comment on that. As for story, well i was not impressed by the darkness story, felt average in execution. If i was the director i would have done it better.
