What do you guys reckon would perform better out of the above 3 graphics solutions?

And what CPU would you recommend to go with it? Perhaps a Core 2 Dup 6600/6700?

Also if i get an SLI Motherboard, i can just use one graphics card right now, and upgrade to two later one right?

Cheers

In my experience 1 higher level card is always better then two lower level cards.. I would honestly go 8800 GTX.. Ultra just seems too overpriced..

id go for the 8800 ultra as i had the same prob of choosing 2x 8800gts 640mb or a gtx or ultra, i went for an oc`ed ultra in the end by BFG as when its compared to 2x8800 gts 640mb it only falls short by a small ammount, so if you get an ultra you can then when you have the money get another ultra for sli and that will blow anything away. But the Ultra i have is better than 2x 8800gts 640mb in supreme commander as they get about 17fps i think an my 1 card gets bout 60 i cant rember the ultras fps but i do know it was significantly more. Also if you get 2 cards in sli then sum games i.e. stalker dont use the second card so its usless, so id recommend the Ultra :D

Oh as for cpu if you want a dual core then get an Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 , its great for ocing and even at default clock it kicks a** and takes names, if you want quad core get an Intel Core 2 Duo Q6600 thats class too :D

ultra is waste of money and for 2 GTS's you need a core 2 quad with core 2 duo you will have bottleneck

just oc ur cpu to 3.0 ghz on intel c2d and this stops the bottleneck, and the ultra is no waste of money, i hate when people say its an oc`ed gtx because its not as it has more bandwidth more shaders and more raw power i have a BFG 8800 Ultra OC and my mate has an EVGA 8800GTX KO and the ultra blows it away

According to Tom's Hardware, the GTS SLI combo is more powerful than the Ultra but just barely....it would probably make more sense to get a single GTX and wait a couple of years and throw another 8800gtx in there if you need it.

If you want to go with out of the box go with AMD...the 5200 or 5600 would be great CPUs if you don't do overclocking. Better performance and price than the Intel counter parts...only if you don't OC though.
