I currently have Win7 32 bit and I want to upgrade to 64bit...I read that this cannot be done without formatting the HDD...
But I have another hard drive which is clean...Can I istall the 64 bit version on the other hard drive via the 32 bit system?I mean putting the CD on and then manually installing Win7 x64 on my other HDD?(Like installing games etc)

no. turn off the machine, remove your current hdd, put in the new on, boot from cd, install windows/drivers etc. once done put your old one back in making sure you boot from the drive with the x64 install then copy your files back

You need to boot into the Win7 64bit DVD and choose to install it onto your free hard drive. You don't install it like you would an application.

If you want to install window 7 64 bit then you should increase your system RAM for 64 bit minimum 4 GB RAM required for smooth running.

So you want to dual boot 32-bit and 64-bit? Should work fine, but I'd unplug your current hard drive first just to make sure you don't accidently overwrite your current drive.
