Sup y'all... I plan on isntalling Windows 7 on my system, but I hesitate which version should it be. 32 bit or 64 bit? I've heard that 64 bit has benefits if you have more than 4GB RAM, but I don't have that much, so I ask myself is it necessery?

My specs are:

Intel C2D E8200 @2,7GHz x8

1X2GB RAM Corsair 800MHz + 1X1GB RAM Kingston 800MHz = 3GB

Should I use the x32 or x64 version and why? I need some quick advice...

Thank you :)

Theres absoultely no reason to stick with 32-bits unless you are a business using old legacy software that absolutely cant function under a 64-bit environment.

Well, I'm using a 32bit system right now and everything works just fine... But friends keep telling me that 64 was faster that 64 was blablablaa... But I have only 3GB RAM so will I have any benefits from running the 64bit version?

No not right now given your current situation, However the 64-bit version is very future proof ;)

There is absolutely no reason for you not to use the 64-bit version.

i'd go with 64 bit but keep in mind, when going from 32 bit to 64 bit....you're gonna have to do a clean install and reinstall all your programs

Well if you read some recent reviews and tests of windows 7 they actually test it with a number of different games. Just do a google search on it ;)

You'll be fine 32-bit but why would you? Its a thing of the past. For the PC community to fully benefit from the advantages of 64-bit, more people need to make the switch. Theres really no reason to stay 32 other than to stop progress.

I wanna say go for the 64bit, but I do remember trying 64bit XP and some apps would not run. That said I'll go ahead and agree with the rest of the people here and say go with the 64 bit just to be future proof. I am using 32 bit Vista right now, but maybe I too will get 64bit Windows 7 instead in the coming weeks.
