Think the title of post says it all. Getting an Elite and just wondering what tv to get. Been reading a lot about resolutions and my brain is frying. The general idea was that 720p is the way to go at smaller screen sizes beause thats what the 360's native resolution is. Is it worth getting an elite then if i'm only going to get 720p out of it?i mean i could hook up a cheaper hard drive the 360 for space and get an arcade for 150? too many options! so any advice would be appreciated .

Also LCD or plasma-- mainly for games

if u have a 1080p tv then it upscales it to 1080p which is a bonus.... they stoped production on plasma's, and there light dies out eventually.... although plasma may have better picture it all depends on the person. I have a 37" sharp 1080p and i love it. the light in the lcds pretty much last forever. if u get the elite u get 120 gb hard drive and a free hdmi cable .... if can afford it i would go with the elite and lcd 1080p if possible.

No company currently makes a 32" plasma. But I think Vizio is coming out with one this year.

If you're going to use it only for games I suggest an LCD. If you're going to use it for a mix of things(games, movies, TV), I suggest a plasma.

720p will be fine at that size, unless you're going to be within 2-3 feet of the screen.

cheers guys,

been doing some more looking and found these:

http://www.soundandvisiononline.com/moreinfo/index.asp?product_id=14028

And

They're both 1080p, pretty big and just over £650 ($1300)

Any good?

This quote is wholly innacurate, Plasmas are still produced and sold in mass quantities, and by the time their light "dies out" an LCD would likely die for some relativable reason anyway, case in point roughly 20-30 years......so.....are you trying to say more than .05% of the people that are buying a tv cares what happens to it after several decades???

But it's a moot point, no matter how much better a picture you'll get from a Plasma, getting one below 42" (if they indeed even exist anymore) is not reccomended, so your main option is LCD.

It's not even a rumor being floated around, Plasmas displays are being prepped, specced and concepted just as far in advance as LCD's, with many saying that they will still be relevant, produced, and sold even after OLED hits the mainstream (whenever that is).

To be honest, if your tv isn't larger than maybe 50 inch it is not worth your money to spend money on a tv that is 1080p. I wish I could convince you to trust me so easily, but I can say that I have been in game developement for over 11 years and you won't notice a difference.

I myself just bought a native 720p 40 inch cause that is the largest I would like right now, and I know that you won't see any difference playing 720p or 1080p for that size.

Getting the elite is not a bad purchase as the prices for tv's are dropping, you might one day decide to get something rather larger.

I would try to read more about the Plasmas as all my friends have LCD's so I cant comment on the negatives and possitives of plasma's for gaming. I have read a few comments that did mention that....

...if someone still brings up the topic of burn-ins in Plasma screens, then you know they don't know what they are taling about...

so my advice would be to do more research, but if you plan on getting LCD and it is smaller than 50 inch, then don't worry if it is native to 720p.

I should also add, that the difference in gaming in SD and HD is big. Once you go HD you won't want to go back, and games will look more poop and sort of de-motivate you in playing unless it is in HD.
