I'm really excited for GoW for pc because I never got to play it because I only got pc and the game looks so sweet, but my only concern is that im wondering if the controls will be as smooth as on the 360. I say this because everyone I've mentioned GoW for pc that plays it on 360 says that the controls wouldnt work and that it cant translate onto the pc because the game was made for the 360 controler.

Anyways, I'm asking if I should maybe buy a 360 controler for when GoW comes out so I won't have to worry about it but at the same time it sort of defeats the purpose of playing it on the pc for the mouse advantage.

What do you think ?

get the controller, even if it isn't for gears. It's a freakin sick controller.

HUGE fan of the 360 controller. But I'm definitely sticking to the mouse/keyboard for Gears. Anything where you use the right controller stick to point/aim, using a mouse/keyboard has to be more sufficient. But I love it for racing and sports games. Plan to use it for Assassin's Creed too.

No, if anything the controls will be better.

Mouse for aiming is ALWAYS more precise imo.

WASD for movement.

Right click to zoom, left click to fire

E to access weapons menu

Q for a melee attack, chainsaw

And spacebar as the action key for busting doors, taking cover, and other cool things.

Oh, and that still leaves like 8 keys within 3 inches of your left hand for other commands.

How is a controller better than that?

Exactly. I've heard so many people complaining about how many commands were assigned to the A button on the 360 controller. It shouldnt be a problem for a keyboard :)

Exactly. I just dont understand the logic behind people's comments about how a controller is more capable than a mouse and keyboard. The mouse alone can do atleast half of what a controller does. Then that leaves us with like a few dozen keys.

Can you play Falcon 4.0 with a controller? Nope, didnt think so!

I don't want this to sound like a criticism because I respect peoples' opinions. I just don't understand why someone would want to use a controller over a mouse/keyboard. I guess if you had never used that combo it would make sense, but give it time. A mouse/keyboard combo is far suprior for control. Trust me here. You could take the 5 best Mouse/keyboard FPS players in the world and pit them against the 5 best controller players and the mouse/keyboard guys would win every time. There is just that much more control. Seriously.

you are all treating gears as a first person shooter. which is a pretty silly thing to do - Its a third person shooter. That makes a fairly large difference. The mouse is still more accurate (or rather, faster at being accurate, a good controller user can be just as accurate, but not quite as quick), but the way the game works may make using mouse/keyboard unnatural and annoying. Certainly i prefer playing lost planet with a controller. Hopefully, however, theyll playtest lots and make the game set up better for mouse/keyboard players. Im tempted to get a controller, i probably wont, so hopefully i wont be disadvantaged.

Well, it really depends on the genre right? For sports and racing, I'm definitely using the controller. And I plan on using the controller for future gamed like Devil May Cry 4 and Assassin's Creed too. I just like using the comfort of using a game controller, so I'll use it for pretty much any game that doesn't involve aiming. I also thinks having the 360 controller helps influence companies to ports more of their 360 games onto PC, since they know that PC users can have the same experience. Who knows, maybe Ninja Gaiden II will make a jump to PC. :)
