I have the wireless 360 controller hooked up through the usb charger to my pc. Windows doesn't know what to do with it, despite having the standard driver installed and the XBCD drivers installed. Add hardware, even when told what folder to look in, can't find the drivers.

I tried to install the "Microsoft Common Controller" drivers which claim they will allow input from the 360 controller, but  the installation always fails.

Right now the ring of lights is just flashing like it would when it can't connect to the xbox.

Any Ideas?

Thats what i ment be "standard driver". I have the one from microsoft installed, 360 Accessories thing.

Add Hardware doesn't recongize these as drivers for some reason.

I'm having the same problem. If you've found the solution, or if anyone else has. Can you please inform me?

If I remember correctly, the wireless 360 controller cannot connect through the USB charger, it has to use the wireless receiver.

Now I am not sure if this is correct, but I am pretty sure I heard this before.

It doesn't work with the USB charger kit. You have to buy a wireless receiver or a wired controller.
