Hey guys I've never really played a lot of pc games, with the exception of Age of Empires, and I'm most comfortable with a controller. I just picked up ME2 and I would rather use a controller so I'm just wondering if there is any way to use it.

Mass Effect 2 does not support gamepad/joypad control on the PC so if you want to play the game with a joypad you will need to use xpadder like TheShadowLord07 suggested.

I wouldn't bother.

Maybe this isn't helpful, but I'd personally suggest trying to get used to the mouse/keyboard. The PC version of Mass Effect 2 is tailored for that control scheme..I suspect the experience will not be very good with a controller.

I have th 360 version and plays flawlessly with a Joypad, if the dude is more comfortable with a joypad then the guy should use a joypad along with Xpadder as the other posters suggested, however i would be a little iffy abu that software how well does it emulate the controller can you still do the stick rotation mechanics or what o well what evs great game enjoy it.

It doesn't matter if you want to play with a gamepad for ME2 on PC. The entire control scheme was designed for the keyboard and mouse. Unless you want to actually control a mouse cursor for the menus and mini games, I would just recommend getting the 360 version.

the only part where i would see problems is int he 360 version when you hit the bumper buttons it pauses he game to use your ablities and or switch weapons where the player would rotae the stick to select stuff whch worked great but i could see some sort of problem with that if you tried to use a gamepad, i see what you are saing.

The game controls much better with a m/k, but just plug in a 360 controller and it should work.

Just tried it out of curiosity.

It doesn't function even in the most basic capacity. Not only does it not work by just plugging it in, you can't even manually map any of the buttons in control options. It seems Mass Effect 2 does not support gamepads at all.

Not that I'm surprised. It's designed specifically for the mouse+keyboard..and even if you could use a controller with it, the experience would be terrible using it exclusively.

WHY would you? you will still need to deal with the mouse cursor in the game. Xpadder just emulates the mouse and keyboard controls to a gamepad. Its not like it magically re-writes the game code and UI for the controller.

Unfortunately, the PC interface is completely different to the 360 one, and because the game doesn't natively support a 360 controller he will have to use an external application. The problem with this is that it doesn't change the in game interface so it would make the game incredibly awkward to play.
