Ok, thanks for the posts in my other topic about my P.O.S. comp from cyberpowerpc.com that I have now sent back (I cant say I'd recommend that site to anyone) any ways, I have decided to buy parts individually and put the computer together myself...So far from what Ive seen the new Visiontek 3870 X2 GPU looks like a good buy and a card that will last me a couple years and leave me the ability to throw another in , in a few months....but really im being honest when I say i dont know much about computers, i have a limited knowledge of them. So all things aside I thought I would ask if anyone knew what motherboard will support the Visiontek 3870 X2 and also an intel q6600 CPU? Or would I be forced to go with an AMD quad? Also how much would this motherboard cost? Thank you

go to newegg, pc hardware, motherboards, chose intel boards, and keep narrowing your search to anything without an Nvidia
Chipset that supports Quad and Core 2 Duo and you shoule be fine

yes building ur computer saves alot of money. buy an nVidia card becuase those are alot better. also wait until the 28th because the GeForce 9 series are coming out and should be alot better then ur ATI

Thanks for the info ill check those sites right now but, im aware the new 9 series is coming out but if i could pick up that X2 for less than a 9 series or an 8800 ultra, it would be nice....a youtube video from tigerdirect.com said that the X2 gets better frames on crysis than a single 8800 ultra...and would i be wrong guessing the 9 series will cost a ton since it will be brand new?

I love your rationale... idiot.

AMitch24, the 3870 X2 is a great choice. The best choice price/performance, and we might see it get even better with future driver updates.

You don't have to go with an AMD quad, you can use intel's Q(X) processors.

Just do what mrhankeydinks said and narrow your search down. If you have questions about a certin board post us a link and we can take a look at it for you.
