I have a kind of a stupid question, :D
do you know if this monitor can display PS3 HDMI output in 3D mode to play games and watch bluray 3D movies?http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/products/Displays/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=320-8846

Thanks,

I think it won't do 3D with PS3 because it has HDMI 1.3, but you need HDMI 1.4 for 3D trough HDMI. It uses DVI for 3D imput, but DVI doesen't send audio. if you don't mind playing without audio i guess that would work :)

Ehm, this isn't correct is it? HDMI v1.3x is fully pin compatible with DVI-_ so it does not matter what DVI-_ --> HDMI you use, just as the cable converter does what it suppose to. DVI-_ does sure have audio, i think it's the DVI-A witch use analoge audio, there are sure DVI-_ that use digital audio also but im not sure of what their name is. "DVI" does not really say anything as the suffix determin what the cable can or can't do (DVI-D/DVI-X/DVI-A/DVI-E and so on...) The pixelthruput may not extend to 1080vertical @ 120Hz (120Hz As needed for most 3D) in a v1.3x HDMI that may be true but it should support 1280*720p or i in 120hz qualifying it for 3D.

That's how Sony is pulling off 3D on the PS3. In HDMI 1.3 the vertical sync is restricted to 60Hz at 1080p. So 3D on the PS3 is done at 720p, not sure how that will affect image quality when viewing Blu-ray movies though.

HDMI 1.4 will remove the 60Hz limit at 1080p. But there aren't any TVs with HDMI 1.4 at the moment.

You could try (I'm not saying it will most definitely work) on the PS3 by setting the video output to HDMI and audio to RCA (Red/White) or Optical. The PS3 doesn't force you to send both video and audio via one cable; you can use one cable for video and a separate one for audio.
