I just ran 3dmark 05 and 06 and the results where quite strange.

05: 10024

06: 7967

I'm running a pentium D 950 (3.4ghz), 2gb ram and 3850 256mb.

I realize that they're different programmes the point i was making was most people with 3850s are claming to get 15k + in 05 and around 8000 + on 06. The 06 mark seems fair enough considering the processor doesn't score too well but the 06 mark seems very low.

Who told you that processor doesnt make adifference ?? Honestly, your CPU is bad and hell out-dated.
Just to clear things for you, even you have 2 identical computers, you can get different scores, tho they should be close

As been said, Your CPU is very outdated, it´ll lower your score.

cpu is counted in 3d mark 06 whilst its not in 3d mark 05, so 3d mark 05 is pure GPU...
