i have a 8800gt sc , 2 gigs of corsair 800mhz, and an e6420. Powering it with 600watt ocz psu

im running it on vista 64bit. Im using the beta 169.04 drivers

my 3d mark is about 9,500. I hear most people with 8800gt score between 11-12k

is it because my cpu is at stock speeds? If i oc it to 3.2ghz do you think it will shoot up to atleast 11k?

im getting great temps with my card. The crysis demo is running very smooth with a mix of high and very high. Is my score right, or is it too low?

Your score is normal because you are using vista.

Ditto...what Wklzip said. You loose about 1000-2000 3DMark points running Vista. :roll:

Go to the NVIDIA Control Panel and use these settings;

Anisotropic filtering - Application-controlled

Antialiasing Mode - Application-controlled

Antialiasing Trasparecy - None

Texture filtering Quality - High Performance

Vertical sync - Force off

All you can do now is overclock your cpu and gpu, I overclocked my cpu 15% and gpu 20% and got a score almost 25% higher.

Vista can hurt your score 1000 to 2000 points.

Oh noes! Vista is a waste of time right now. DX10 isn't that big a deal at the moment anyway. Vistas performance is shoddy and with SP3 with XP performance will increase anouther 10-15%. Whereas vista will improve about 5% and it is already way behind XP.

???? I lost like 80 points or something from XP to Vista. Scored about an 11,400 with a stock clocked 8800GT in Vista64. See what your shader model scores are in 3dmark, the overall score factors in CPU, the SM ones are more GPU.
