either that or it suddenly became a tiny god.

I have a e4600 @ 2.8ghz. it should not be getting around 25000, that is higher than a stock core i7 gets. Its not a fluke, i ran it multiple times and even reinstalled vantage.

I looked it up and my processor should instead be getting around a 5000 vantage score, so what gives? :?

It's probably physX.

well i compared to other people running gtx 280 cards, and mine landed in with the overclocked quad cores and i7s, far above the other people with core 2 duo in the same class and gtx 280s

If you have physx enabled in Nvidia control panel then your cpu score will be overly inflated in Vantage. Basically, what happens is when Vantage gets to the cpu test the actual tests are ran off the gpu instead of the cpu. Your gpu will give better results with those tests than your cpu and so vantage reports a higher performance score for the cpu.

Click on Options and in the bottom right hand corner there is an Option called Disable PPU.

A PPU is a Physics Processing Unit. 3DMark uses PhysX, which is proprietary to Nvidia, which is ran on the video card to simulate physics. Disable PPU in the options will disable the use of the GPU in the CPU tests for physic calculations.
