alright so would like to know if my 470W PSU can handle a 8800GTs 640/320 MB. Aslo, im getting a VF900 fan to put on my overheating X1950pro, do you think my future 8800GTS will need it or it runs cool enough. Thanks in advance.

You mean 480W? How many amps does it have on the 12V rail? You'll want around 30 amps for an 8800GTS.

I'm thinking you'll be okay though, since Thermaltake makes pretty decent power supplies.

If it is a brand name PSU than 470W will be enough

Not much, it doesn't consume as much energy as most higher-end video cards.

I'd say a decent 350W+ with 25+ amps.

OK thanks, I have a standard one in my casing, I will try it out for 2 weeks to see how it goes.. If it crashes/freezes or does other weird things then I'll know what be likely be the problem..

There is a 8800 gts card on newegg.com. The specs says the card needs a 400 watt minimum power supply. You probably want to get something higher to allow more headroom for your other hardware also may help expandability when it comes.

Alright thanks, the thing is, im either getting a 8800gts and a new monitor, or the 8800gts with a new PSU if needed, and id like to get the monitor over the psu if possible :P
