am going to play in a resolution of 1280X1024! and all the reviews comparing both cards are on much higher res.
can anyone tell me (or show me links) to see which card will be better on that res. ?!

Ya man what a waste of money upgrading the 8800GT. Only thing taht can't max up to 1680 x 1050 is crysis. These cards like the GTX 260 280/s .... the ATI 4870, 4870 x2 are ofr 1920 x 1080 and higher.
you really don't need to upgrade you will notice NO difference at all.
Actually if you want to upgrade something, buy yourself a new 24 inch monitor. That will make stuff look better than the new video card.
.
go with whatever is cheaper, simple answer
neither one will give you better performance in reality because of the res, so go with the cheaper
ive read that Ati Cards has some trouble with AA , is that true ?sentenced83
The 2900/3800 series had it, the 4800 series corrected that problem.
The GTX260 and 4870 are pretty much the same, with AA enabled the 4870 outperforms the gtx260 by a noticeable margin.
ATIs overheat easily. It's not normal to have to make the FAN run over 3000rpm to get decent temps :P.s00kah
Heat from Graphics Cards is a big issue and I'm slightly annoyed that companies will sacrifice everything so that they perform well in a benchmark. That being said, all Graphics Cards are designed to run at 100% fan speed for the lifetime of the card.

still, default on my card is 60%, so i dont if its good to make it run at 100%.
