The 4870 generally beats the GTX 260 in gaming performance. At 12x10, the gap narrows, and the Nvidia card comes close to ATI's. Either card will excel at that resolution; only you will know if the slight increase in perfomance from the 4870 is worth its slight increase in price (at Newegg, the cheapest 4870 is $235 after rebate, while the cheapest 260 is $210 after rebate). If you're ever going to get a higher-resolution monitor, though, the 4870 is the clear choice.

both are nearly the same ! the have been heated discussions here about this before ! and i had the same problem and still undecided ! if you get gtx 260 get the FTW version it kicks the 4870's ass

Performence wise, they are pretty much the same. HD 4870 being better in some games, GTX 260 in others.

But on newegg.com a GTX 260 can be had for about $210 (MIR)

So id go for the GTX 260.

The RAM is fine. That PSU is okay, but there are better choices out there. For example, this PC Power & Cooling 500W is from a more reputable company and costs a dollar less after its 20% off promo price.
