I am getting a new graphics card however not sure which one to get, either asus 4870x2 or asus 295GTX. I am swinging more toward the ati one since I will be able to clean out the heat sink easily by just pulling off the plastic heat sink cover and vacuuming. Also the ati supports directx10.1 which will hopefully be relewased soon and make abigger difference than dx10 does.

However im not too good with computers so could someone please help me choosing between the two gpus? thank you :D

I'm pretty sure the 295 is faster and consumes less energy.

I would avoid any and all two-in-one GPU's. If memory serves me correctly, doesn't Nvidia have a habit of slacking on these complicated high-end cards drivers once the next dual card comes out?

I am pretty sure I remember people complaining about the 7950GX2 and the 9800GX2, once there were no longer top dog, it seems Nvidia sorta dropped the ball on releasing good optimized drivers for them. If I am incorrect, please someone correct me.

Now I am not sure if ATI is the same, but it would make sense. Why would you waste all that time an money and time on an old product that very few people actually own. I don't agree with it, but I can surely understand. Heck the way they see it, it is probably just another reason to get the end user to upgrade.

You are not incorrect. I'd recommend a GTX 285 if you're looking to go high-end. The GTX 3xx series is not that far away.
