Hey, if a 500W PSU will run a single 4870 fine, how much does the X2 need?
and does it REALLY cost 499? (seems to good to be true!)
And lastly, will i experience a bottleneck with a Q6600 @ 3.0GHZ and 4 gigs of DDR2 ram (but 3.5 is recognized by stupid vista)

And i have a 850W i believe. Will it run the 4870X2? thanks.

And lastly , I heard crossfire renders in 3 ways:
1 way it being a checkerboard pattern
the second being the upper half for the first GPU, and the lower half for the Second
and third being Alternate frame rendering.

Is this true? i will provide the link

http://hightech.com.hk/html/crossFire.html

Edit: My mobo is the Asus rampage formula X48 chipset, if it makes any difference, and my case, the Antec 900
and lastly! Will the fanfix work for the 4870X2?

Yeah the PSU is fine.. i have no idea about prices.. i would imagine just double the price of a single 4870. Also, CPU's are nearly always a bottleneck, so yes, your cpu will bottleneck your GPU but not to any noticable affect in any current games out there. So yeah your fine :)

Don't know about the crossfire question and tis a good mobo :)

You have a awesome mobo. Lucky you. :) That HD4870x2 is going to run like a dream. Sweeeet. A 750w is already enough for HD4870x2 and the rest of your build. It consumes about 400watts so anything 750w and up will suffice. Since you have an 850w, you're good to go but dont plan to Quadfire unless you have at least a 1000watt PSU. Fanfix for HD4870x2? I hope so. We dont know yet. We have to see the drivers and all that. And lets see if it comes with a decent temp and fan default speed. If not, expect fanfix to be used in this card as well.

As for the price, it's going to be $550, but there's a good chance it may be $500 or drop to that price in a few weeks to a month. It may even drop as low as $450 but dont expect that until later on. Personally, $500 would be right on the spot. $550 is a bit much and ATi hasnt been known for pricey cards. At least not since the days of ATi X850 XT. But expect it to be $550.

With your build, you will not experience a bottleneck. Maybe in Crysis because your CPU is only running at 3.0Ghz but other games will run like a dream. 3.5gb of Ram is enough. A lot of people still run 4GBs of RAM with a 32-bit system and only see 3.3-3.5, sometimes even as little as 3.0gb. You're fine.

Your case and mobo will rock. You can push your Q6600 more than that. You should be able to with that mobo. And it would still be safe. But dont quote me for that. :P

And this is extremely impressive, if true. I think it's true:
