Not in gaming; if you use some serious tasks, you may see a difference.

Won't notice a difference at all in gaming, 4-16gb, maybe a 1 or 2+fps. Heck some games actually give you more FPS with 2GB rather than 4. Windows Vista/7 don't even use up 4gb of your ram. If you meant firefox when you said firebox, you would actually notice more of a difference if you were running a raid setup than adding in ram. Either way both are a waste of money.

Haha you're the second person to say "firebox" next to my mom  I suspect there will be no difference, i used a PC with 8GB at Fry's and didn't notice anything compared to mine with 4.

i went from 2GB to 4GB and saw performance increase, went from 4GB to 6GB NO performance increase, went from 6GB to 8GB, NO performance increase. does that answer your question?

Unless your somehow using up 4GB of ram, there wont be any increase in gaming or on the desktop

Not much difference if you don't use any heavy programs I just upgraded to 8GB cause I can and have all slots in my Mobo filled.

Really a waste of time to ask that question here. Near everyone here will tell you no, but only because they really don't know, or are biased in some way. Won't notice anything in gaming for sure... yea, right about that and basic pc usage. Ram isn't necessarilu made to "speed" up your computer, although those are the effects of it when extra ram comes into play. If anyone gets around to telling you that they've never used all 100% of their 2gb of ram - good for them. You're never going to reach 100% usage unless you disable the paging file, which then would probably cuase the pc to crash.

You may notice faster windows loading times with the extra ram. As far as anything else, it'd depend on the speed of your hard drives, what programs you use, how ram hungry they are and if you use multiple ram hungry programs at the same time.

I'm a hungry hungry RAM hog myself, but that's becasue I play with VMs :P. I pretty much NEED the 8gigs to support my style. But not mnay people like running 4 OSs at once.
