I've almost filled up my 2TB external hard drive and I was wondering if there is an alterative to a 4TB home server? can you get a 4TB in one single hard drive? if not at the moment will there soon be one?

Also If I were to get a enclosure with 2 x 2TB harddrives would it read as 1 4TB harddrive? or would two 2TB harddrives appear?

man you have to much stuff. 2tb is the current largest drive. I think if you have 2 x 2tb drives in an enclosure it will read as two drives. anyway it's always better to have your stuff across drive in case one dies on you.

What in the world are you doing to fill up a 2 TB drive lol, full system backups every day for like 5 machines? Yeah 2tb is the biggest right now, you could always get 2 and put it in raid to make it into a single 4 tb partition

I thought that a 2.5TB drive just came out recently..... Anyways, once you exceed 2.5TB on one single HDD, your MB needs to have an EFI BIOS to support hard drives larger than 2.5TB. Or was 2TB the limit....?

Fillin up a 2TB drive seems a little excessive if you ask me. It seems like you collect junk data and just save it. Probably archives everything, even stuff you dont use. Unless you got allot of HD movies on your drive.

I wouldn't call it junk data since its all useful, and comes in handy when Im bored, I also archive alot of home videos and photos.

That's a lot of space. Great if you're gonna save loads of videos, music, and whatever.

I remember the days when a 1-4 GB is consitered large. Now today, it's too small. Imagine in the next 10 years from now. :P

Lol, I have 3tb of usable space on my server (7x500 hds in RAID 5)(backed up by 3x1.5tb hds in RAID 5 in another server), and it's not enough. Just grab a few more hds and put em in RAID 5, there are no 4tb hds.

[QUOTE="FILIPINOMAZTER"]4tb hdd is a lil bit small now, try this 8tb hdd http://www.hardwaresphere.com/2009/07/14/century-8tb-hdd-enclosure-released-in-japan/

That's an enclose, not a single hd.

That isn't a single hard drive, that is a series of HDS.

Damn, I wish I had even a 1TB drive. I'm stuck using my old 160GB drive and it's almost full. :( I'm not sure if there are 4TB drives yet, but you can definitely get 2x 2TB drives and get the same effect.

The rate at which you can pirate movies, games, music, and other software filling up 1 terabyte would only take a month or two of constant DLing with great internet speed and many seeders for the torrents.

2tb is the largest NLahren

I really don't get why people post stuff like this. This was posted after after the first person posted the first reply, and all NLahren did was repeat what the first poster did in a less informative way. Dumb stuff....

Not that my post was any more constructive.
