with that money get a 5850 or 5870 both great cards fits your budget and pretty much maxes everything out there. otherwise your system is fine. what is your power supply though>?
Over the last few months, I've really been wanting to get more into the PC gaming scene. I've always been a PC gamer, but never really checked out the newer games to release, I have a console for that. But now I want to give it a shot. I've got a fairly decent computer, runs everything I play now just fine, but I'd still like a little more. The main game I want to play is CoD4. Preferrably with the highest settings possible. Usually what I end up doing is dropping everything to low just so I can run smooth, but I'd like to enjoy some quality visuals for once. My current specs are; Q6600 2.3GHz GeForce 8600GT 512MB 3GB Memory (don't know the specific model) Not really sure of anything else. I was using Vista for the longest time, but just switched to XP a few days ago since I prefer it much more over Vista. Like it says in the title, $500 is my max (Canadian). If there's anything left unanswered, let me know and I'll try to find out. Thanks.crp_fragr
I'm assuming you're using a 32bit OS?
5850
PSU
There is a deal with that GPU for a free PSU. Though it is a TR2 series PSU from Thermaletake, I would not recommend a PSU from that line to my worst enemy.

millerlight89
It's considered Tier 4 by the XS PSU ranking, which isn't good, but isn't terrible either.
Needless to say, it'll easily power s single 5870/5850 .
i dont think you should really, only way you would is if you overclocked but i would say get a good psu and a 5850 and your set
I've done some research about OCing, but honestly I'm a little nervous. I don't want to wreck anything, but at the same time, it'd be nice to push things a little further.crp_fragrGood thing ur looking forward to OC :D Well i suggest to get the combo of 5850 which millerlight89 suggested..... so u ve almost a 100$ left to spend on cooler :) Here this one is good : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835181010&cm_re=cpu_cooling-_-35-181-010-_-Product Put this on and u can easily OC it to 3-3.6Ghz
Overclock your current CPU and your set.
I'm not sure about the PSU i chose though
Total $490 Canadian
