- no budget, but under 3k is ideal

- prefer a reliable brand like Sony or Samsung

- 1080p, good contrast ratio,

- 240hz (for gaming?)

Any of the Panasonic St50/55/60 plasma Tv's would be the best bang for the buck and are in the front of the pack in terms of picture quality in currently sold displays. Stepping up to the GT or VT lines may get you slightly better performance and still would be under 3K.

Just go with one of the 50-60inch Panasonic ST50s, it will wipe the floor with pretty much any LCD/LED. Also the ST50 is said to be better for gaming than the GT50 or VT50 (concerning response time, not picture quality).

Wow $3000 ? Nice budget there bro. Get a Panasonic plasma, they make the best TVs. More specifically, go for the 50" Panasonic VT50 top model. Best TV CURRENTLY on the market.

Terrible my friend :) Even the Panasonic ST50 has superior picture quality, let alone the VT50.

VT25 is a 2011 model. The ST50 is better in many ways not to mention the price.

Might have to vouch this. Panasonic plasmas just dominate 2012. UT50 ST50 VT50 Not sure about the GT50's value (priced closer to VT50 but looks closer to ST50.
