5.1 sound system with current setup?

hello

i was looking to buy a 5.1 sound system for my pc but was unsure waether a) my pc would transform games and films into surround sounds and b) if games are actualy using surround sound and would i notice a difference over my ageing 2.1
i have no sound card but my MOBO is only around a year old if that helps?

dont supose you could tell me how long the cables for the sattelie speakers are?

My bro paid like $40 CAD for the X-540.

Also, you will want extra RCA cable for the rear speakers. Logitech isn't very generous in that regard. Obviously needing a female to female adapter.

And yes, onboard should be quite alright. Don't bother with any sound cards if you're sticking with these speakers.
