i have a normal soundcard.. msi c35 motherboard.. am thinking about buying creative sbs a520 soeakers (5.1) .. would i get 5.1 in games or i need to get a new sound card.. thanks
You do not have a sound card, you have a Realtek ALC889 chipset built into your motherboard.
Yes, you will be able to get surround sound from that Creative speaker system for most content that supports it. There may be come newer content that it does not support, namely anything using the newer EAX 4.0 or 5.0 formats. For the most part, though, you should be good.
thanks mate... i intend to play bf3 and skyrim on it mostly..

I know this is unsolicited, but note that you would benefit from a dedicated sound card, particularly looking at the rest of your PC setup and how much you've spent. A dedicated card will support the latest surround audio codecs, offer superior quality, and reduce potential noise bleed from your system, such as hard drive read distortion that tends to feed back through the analog connections on motherboard audio chipsets. Just something to consider. Happy gaming, Boz
