Each speaker should provide balanced sound, except for the subwoofer which should put out only bass frequencies.

At first glance I would guess you plugged a speaker into the wrong 3.5mm output on your computer. Go back and double-check that they are all connected to the correct outputs. Good luck! Boz

Chances are you've plugged rear left and right into the sub/centre output.

looking at everything and switching stuff around i think the problem is i may have a bad connector on the back of the subwoofer where i plug in the back right speaker. i have the most current audio drivers installed on my mobo and when i go in to realtek audio manager and click on the back right speak it has a very low amount of sound that comes out of it only a deep rumble of bass. the rear left works fine. i switched the plugs on the back of my pc from rs-out to ss-out just to try them out as side speakers in 7.1 config and the same thing occurs the speaker that is plugged in to the jack on my sub that says rear right has that low sound and deep rumble where whatever speak i plug in to the rear left sounds perfect.

im thinking its the connector on the sub so i guess i will pack em up and exchange em tomorrow.

do u guys have any recommendations on good gaming speakers with a lot of kick and great sound?

An easy solution with excellent sound is the Klipsch Promedia 2.1. Look around: They are extremely well-regarded by both your average Joe and audiophiles at their price point. You can also go the DIY (do it yourself) route and purchase your amplifier, sub, speakers, and wiring separately via Parts Express. It requires more effort, but you'll get much better audio in the end. If you want to go this route, either I or another one of the forum regulars will outline the budget system. If you absolutely must have surround sound, let us know, and we'll figure something out in your budget. What was that, again? Happy gaming, Boz

Sorround sound is by no means a must they are for my desktop pc honestly i wouldnt mind having a good 2.0 or 2.1 with some serious kick to them. I was browsing online and found two products that looked interesting the Bose Companion 20s but they are $225 and im not sure if they are worth the price and These Creative ones for $140 but they seem to get mixed reviews: Creative GigaWorks T40 Series II 32 watts RMS 2.0 Speakers

You want the Klipsch Promedia 2.1's. Unless they are not available in your reason, it'll be the best solution for you. If you wanted to go with a 2.0 system, forget about the Gigaworks T40 and consider either the M-Audio Studiophile AV40's - which are an absolute steal on Amazon right now at $130 (normally they're $200), or the Audioengine A2's, which are about $200. All of the speakers I have linked are well-regarded not just in gaming circles, but in audiophile circles, as well. Good luck, Boz
