Memory:Corsair XMS2 TWIN2X 4096MB

Hard Drive:Seagate Barracuda 500GB

Video Card:EVGA GeForce 9800 GT Video Card
- 512 MB DDR3

Case: Cooler Master Elite 330 Black ATX Mid-Tower Case

PS:Ultra LSP550 550-Watt

Total : $552.93

Budget Goal around $600

I was thinking about upgrading the card to atEVGA GeForce GTS 250 Video Card, (26$ more)but i wanted to get the best price possible since I'm on a budget.

The only games I want to play are currently L4D2, CSS, TF2, COD4:MW2, and maybe boarderlands. I am looking forward to playing Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3.

So should I build one now, or wait till next year and save for something better?

* I'm currently on a P4 533 FSB with an AGP 8x Geforce 7800, 1.5 gigs ddr, asus mobo and I can play L4D2 Demo and other games fine, but on the lowest settings. I want to at least be able to play on med-hi.

I have to disagree with that and say stick with 9800GT. However, you should really look intoPhenom II X2 550 BE which is nearly the same price but MUCH faster. Also, get a nice motherboard like this.

Well specifically because of the nVidia optimization in games which will make his life hard on ATI. I back you 100% that 4770 is a superior card, but you'd be surprised to see that even inferior nVidia cards can beat ATI hands down because of nVida's support in games. That is the only reason.

I agree with the other poster about getting the Amd X2 550 Black Edition. I would disagree with the others about the 9800 GT. Great card I would agree, but showing its age. I would know I have 2 8800 GT's in Sli and they are going bye bye next Anyway here is a quick one I came up with off newegg. You could still buy the case u like off Tigerdirect since they are so similiar in price. $619.88 grand total out the door. ( I tried to get close to your $600 you got listed.) Mine is actually $609.88 after rebate but I don't like counting rebates in prices. I would also change your hard drive to a 7200 rpm 32mb drive instead of the 5900 16mb drive you got listed. Anyway you go, good luck.

Thank you for all the input guys, I didn't expect such great feedback. I didn't build an AMD because i have always been intel (you know how that is), but after looking at the price for amount of performance, I am really going to consider it. I really like that buildshakes_1and I don't mind paying a little more ifs its on the video cards. I always had an NVIDIA chip, but looking at that chart ATI may be the way to go. I'm definitely going to consider this. Thank you again.

Go for a new ATI HD 5000 card. It'll really shine when running DX11 games...

It means adding another 5770 :D Really, Crossfire is the name ATI uses for multiple card mode. You need a motherboard that will support it and two 5770's.
