6 to 8 pin adapters??

well i only have 2 6 pins which are in my 8800GTX

if i get a GTX 280 or someting later on is there such a thing as a 6 to 8 pin adapter??



oh and can i get Dell XPS 720 PSU's??

i have a 750W in my 720 but it only has 2x 6 pins but when i bought it there was an option for 2x 8800GTX which still used the same PSU

how do i get extra connectors??

dont flame me for teh Dell, i didnt know crap about computers when i got it, but i know ALOT more now and here i Aus i didnt know where to get cheaper parts, but now i kinda do

don't quote me on this because I have 8 pins on my PSU so i haven't had to really look into it... but I would assume you would need a new PSU

there might be extensions give it a try but if youc an't find anything you need a new psu. And when you look for one it won't necessarily say it has an 8 pin connector (atleast on the website) the site i bought my GPU from just said it has 2 6 pins, but on one of those there is an option for the 8 pin, a nice perk

Well, its a power hungry card.. so you might need a new PSU regardless... but..

It could be like a motherboard. MAny motherbards have 8pin CPU power conectors BUT will allow a single 4pin to power it up. And vise versa, a 4pin mobo will allow a 8pin to connect and power it up.

This could be the case with the GX 280.. but I wouldn't be so sure.

In this review they show the included adaptors and yes there is an adaptor to hook it up.

It's a molex to 6 pin and then a 2x6 pin to 8 pin adaptor.

They usually include the adators in the graphics card box. Molex to 6 pin so I'd assume they do the same for 8 pin.

The GTX 280 most likely comes with said adapter. Not sure why you'd want to upgrade to the GTX 280 over an 8800GTX though.
