If the board supports tri-channel then get 6GB, if not then get 4GB.

With 6gb you will be able to do triple channel, and to take screenshots you can use xfire, fraps, or just the printscreen button and paste it into paint and save it.

Triple channel is like lanes on a highway more lanes means faster/more traffic (data) to move better. Xfire is free and you can download it. http://www.xfire.com/download/

Get the MSI if you have the money. We are talking the difference between 790GX and 790FX here. How is the FX now worth it? It has 32 lanes of PCIE where as the GX only has 16. Also, to answer the original question, get 4GB. Triple channel is only for i7.

even if he uses 2 pci e slots, thats the difference between 2x 16x and 2x 8x. If he has the money, it is WELL worth it.

The only cards that even use pass the 8x bandwidth are the dual gpu single card type graphics cards, and i doubt he going to use more then one card so he's better off saving some money where he can.

Get 4GB of RAM. AM3 socket can't use triple channel only dual channel so go with 4GB. 4GB should be enough anyway.

Nah not now, in the future you will see the benefit but as for now I don't think there is any game that need more than 4GB of ram
