If you have the money why the hell not ram is so cheap. But in all honestly i have 16gb and i don't go past 6 gb
[QUOTE="Fightingfan"]I'd say no, I have 8GB and I've never seen myself use more then maybe 2.8GBsmitu123You really must not have a lot going on, I use over 4GB on average with my 8GB RAM.
You must have a lot of junk running on your system or memory leaks.. A fresh install of Win7 actually uses less then 1gb of ram, after you load some junk onto it 1.10gb. This is at the desktop, no webbbrowser open.
Also there's no point going from 8 to 16gb of ram, you might see if your lucky 1fps increase or actually a downgrade in performance.

Chrome, Firefox and Opera seem to take quite a bit of RAM.[QUOTE="zaku101"]

Chrome, Firefox and Opera seem to take quite a bit of RAM.So do you actually have all 3 open at a time with a bunch of tabs or something? Because with 9 tabs open in chrome plus a few apps I hit 2gigs. Meaning to hit your average I'd need to open 30 web pages at the same time.

I have more than 9 tabs on each of them with them all opened at the same time.[QUOTE="JigglyWiggly_"]i'm idling at 7 gigs atm for me yeah for you, nahzaku101
So does your day start with you opening chrome and over 50 tabs open up? Because to hit 7gigs while idling isn't something you just do, even in gaming.
I haven't rebooted in like a week and yeah pretty much. Blender is open but even if I close it it doesn't seem to give all the memory back. Open sourceis amazing[QUOTE="zaku101"]

More than 6GB of RAM is pointless for gaming and most other tasks. I have 8GB, but that's just because I wanted more than 4gb and wanted to keep dual-channel mode with identical DIMMS in each slot... plus I do some HD video editing from time to time. A person who bought an LGA 1366 system 3+ years ago with an i7 and 6GB of RAM in a 2gb x 3 configuration made a really good investment. The CPU is still beastly, especially overclocked. They still have plenty of RAM for almost anything.

Lol, why are you using 3 different browsers and why do you need tabs open in all of them?
Because I can multi-task between them since I go on a wide variety of sites.[QUOTE="zaku101"]

Idk about you but I only have two tabs open at a time, I have no idea why you open that many when a human being can't read more than one at a time. Unless god gave you super powers your just doing it for **** n gigles.

Because anything less isn't for the best, also 2 tabs is a complete joke to me, I get nothing done with 2 tabs open.[QUOTE="zaku101"]
