Which is better, a 256mb 7300gs or a 6600gt

My brother is willing to give me 7300gs 256mb, which he can get for free, if i give him my 6600gt 128mb so he can use SLI, since he allready owns a 6600gt.

I cant find any benchmarks on the internet comparing the 6600gt 128mb with the 7300 256mb, not even on Tom's Hardware or Anatech....

Should i accept his offer, or will i be losing on this deal?

While a 6600 GT isn't exactly a screamer, it's also not turned into trash yet. From a gamers' point of view, the 7300 GS was total trash, an awful POS, even when it was brand new, and of course, a year later, it is still worse.

Look at the Fill Rates and Shader Operations in particular.

6600GT is a decent graphics card and is a mid range card too a 7300 isn't designed for gaming really.

Now the 7300gt is a little different, It can play FEAR near high(low shadows)at 1024x768. But I would hang on to that 6600gt for another 3-6 months and save up.

Basicly... i should stick to my 6600gt for the moment? Well till i buy myself a new card?

Also, kinda off topic, when is the "9000" range cards expected?

Ya, that 6600gt of yours has 8 pixel pipe lines vs the 4 that the 7300gs has, which can barely beat a geforce 6200 by a few frames. save up til you can get a 200 dollar range card like 8600 gts or higher.

2008/2009, the g92 (8800gt and new 8800gts) was filling the gaps between the 8800gtx and 8800gts, the g98 is said to be a 8800gs.

Maybe even the G100 (08) is called 8900gtx.
