Just wondering which motherboard has better performance out of the two as ive been told the 750i arent too good at overclocking quad core cpu's which is what ive got at the min, dont know about the 780i though.

just wondering what people think =)

My motherboard on the bak has like 3 pins that are bent... On the back. Is it a problem is that why I am not getting a beep on startup?

IIRC, the 750i and 780i share the same northbridge, so overclocking should be similar on the two motherboards. The only advantage in my mind going for the 780i is the extra PCI-E lanes which would allow for true x16/x16 SLI.

The 750i unfortunately only allows for x16/x8 SLI, so my decision on what to purchase would solely depend on whether you're planning on SLI'ing two or more high-end Nvidia GPU's. But if you can grab a 750i for cheap, I'd go for it, as it isn't a shabby board at all.

I was thinking of getting another 260gtx OCX from BFG or maybe two, but at the same time id want to at least be able to overclock my q9550 to 3.4 to make sure its not slouching on the graphics cards, i dont mind that the strikers more expensive so long as its worth it really im just stuck as to what to pick =S

They both suck, I'm not even lying. First 680i (680i is identical to the 780i other than the pci express frequency), well I had an AR revision, no the A1 from Evga so gotta rma that. Then, it blew up, RMA again. Then step up to the 780i from evga for 60$. It was working fine running as a router in my house running pfsense, then magically after being on for about 140 days without fail, pop one of the ethernet ports died, and some usb ports died. Intel motherboards: x38, one died for no apparent reason... p45 from asus works fine no problem. x48 from asus works fine without problem. Another p45 from gigabyte works fine.

i'd say 780i but if you're on a budget i'd get the 750i. i just have one question, if you're going to get the 780i why not one up and go with the 790i?
