I can pick one up for $50 is it worth it to extend my agp system's life? Will it allow me to play Fc2 on medium settings at 1024x768? My 7600 does poor with shadows and above 800x600. Now Cod4 does pretty good on a mix of medium and high. Also will going from DDR2 on my 7600 to DDR3 on the 7800 help too?
$50 better spent on an Intel mobo with integrated graphics(Nvidia 8200/9300). Sell off your old stuff and get a new CPU ($80-110) and RAM(2GB $40) then upgrade your video card and possibly PSU later.
Well I know someone with a 7800gs and he can play Crysis on most settings on medium and the rest on low. When I use to have a 7600gs it could only run Crysis on low with one or two setting on medium. So is it a upgrade yes, you will get at least 50% improvement over that 7600gs. If your tight on cash and cant buy $200+ on a new computer thats still a good upgrade.
maybe anywhere from 5-10 fps improvement when comparing the 2 playing at the same settings, might be more than 10 for some games, or less than 5 for others, i am not certian, im just throwing out a general idea
