Hey, I get my new graphics card this week, and just wanna know how much of a performance boost I'm gonna get.

Specs:

3.0Ghz pentium d930-overclocked to 3.5ghz (dual core btw)

3GB of ddr2 ram

old card-geforce7600gt 256mb ram

new card-geforce8800gts-320mb ram

btw I play with a max resolution of 1280x1024, and not upgrading to a new monitor for a few years

Crysis gets 25fps with everything on high, but shadows and shaders, at 1024x768

Bioshock gets 23fps with everything on high at 1280x1024

World In Conflict gets 22fps with everything on medium at 1280x1024

etc etc.

Hope I made a good investment, please do not tell me to get a another card etc, cause it's already paid for.

You'll see a HUGE increase in quality. You did not choose the best, but you did choose well.

You will notice a big jump in performance. But I would get a HD 3870 tho its better than the 8800GTS and alot cheaper.

Not nessisarily. My first pci-e card was a 6600gt, which was the generation before the 7 series.

8800GTS is far better than 7600GT,but if possible, return it and get a 8800GT or HD 3870 or cheaper.

Can't return it, cause the order has been placed already, and they don't carry the newest ATI cards, and the higher up models like 8800gt etc were way too much compared to this one. I'm from Canada that may be why.

The new ATI cards are easily available up here, try NCIX.com, out of Burnaby.

I don't know where you bought that thing, but not offering returns, refunds, or cancellations is incredibly bad customer service. Don't ever shop there again.

True. Again, there is something really wrong going on at that retailer. Try to get your money back, and stay away in the future.
