The 7900GTX is very good.....I upgraded my entiresystem in September of '06 with an eVGA 7900GTX. Now I must tell you that some peole have had problems with this card such as artifact's, freeze ups and blue screen. I have not.I purchased my card brand new and retail from newegg and it's run perfect since day one.

I don't know if the card your looking to buy is new or used, shouldn't matter, as long as you know it's coming from a reputable source that you can trust.

I'm posting this link from the eVGA forum with people discussing the issues pertaining to the 7900GTX. That may give you a bit more insite about this card......as I said, some people have had problems...I have not and I am very happy with the performance this 7900GTX has given me....though I am looking to up grade again soon, most likely to a 8800GTX as soon as prices start to fall a bit more........

The 7900 is a pretty recent graphics card as well as being one of the last models in the 7000 series. You'll be able to play most games at high res settings without problem.

An excellent card. Will probably handle games at good quality settings at least for another 1.5 years.

Its a good card, i would recommend better getting the 8800gts/hd2900pro, they outperform it.

But everything depends of the 7900gtx price.

Unless you already have one or you're getting a sweet deal on one (Like for $180ish) i see no reason to gte it,since a HD 2900Pro is the same price if not cheaper than the 7900GTX and offers better performance, but its a decent performer, can easily get high on most recent games @ 16x10.

Looking at the prices still on Newegg I would probably just go ahead and do mid 8 series or the 2900, there pretty close in price ranges and you will get the DX10 advantages if your on Vista
