is the geforce xfx 7950 agp 8x a good card for my system or will it be held back

amd athlon 64 3000+

2.0ghz 1024 ram

current card fx 5500

meh, a bit of a bottleneck, but nothing a little learning of CPU overclocking wont fix, that CPU hits 2.6Ghz-2.8ghz with the right setup. But if its just stock and so on...2.4Ghz. At higher resolutions say 16x12 and higher, you wont notice the neck as much, but lower, the games are more CPU intensive.

im having a real hard time figuring out which one i want 7600gt agp8x or 7950 agp8x both seem good but i want the best performance

i wouldnt spend too much money on an agp card, unless your willing to spend that kind of money and upgrade later, most people wouldnt

yea when im older i will build a completely new computor uses some of the parts i have now like ram and gigs but as of now the money is from my parents and i just want a graphics card that can play games higher then low like my crappy a$$ fx 5500

Yeah go for it if you want. This is the model you should get.

I use to run an X1950 PRO with an Athlon 3500+ and I had no bottlenecks then. But you're 3000+ may cause some problems, and will probably stop the 7960GT from hitting full stride.
