Okay I understand that a better resolution means more pixles and better graphics(aleast i think so). But is there a diffrence from 800by600 to 1024by768. Starting at 800by600 and going up one. Is there a significant amount of power that needs to be used? What exactly is taking place when this happens. In other words can someone explain to me alittle about how resolution works?

Also I dont have a awsome monitor and I cant really go up in resolution buti play most games with 1024 res except for BF2. Would you guys think its okay if I raise my res up to 1024 in bf2 on astandered monitor.(no Flat screen) O yea I have anXFX 8500GT and a 300watt PSU with+12v------19A.Im asking this because I dontwantmy PSU to crash by not having enough power to give my PC iif I play bf2 on 1024 res!!!

PS> no need to me that the 8500 sucks, it was all I could afford at the time. :)

Yes,there is a significant amount of power that needs to be used, that 8500GT just doesn't cut it,you should get a 8600GT and maybe a new PSU.

In reference to the "how resolution works" question, I will just reference you to Wikipedia article on resolution

A 7900GS will run too... Hell you can get a 7950GT if you wanted too. To answer, you will use the same wattage going from 800 to 1024 res...
