How much is my performance suffering by running at a resolution of 1400 X 900 with a 8600 GTS 256MB RAM. '

I wonder how much my performance is suffering on games like UT3 and Cod4. The rest of my specs are:

Intelc2d E6850 @3.00GHZ

400 GB HD

ASUS P5KC MOBO

2GB OCZ 800mhz RAM

I have AA off. MY FPS goes way up if I have it up. I rather have native resolution than AA.

And 1400X 900 is the same as 1280x1024? I thought it would take more of the 256MB RAM of the vid card with the larger resolution.

I think it's just the UT3 demo not being optimized that well or something.

BS,i heard that people with ATI 9800's and even 8400GS'es run the demo extremely well @ 10x7 and your 8600GTS is MUCH better than both of those cards.

1440x900 is not a higher resolution it is just in a different aspect ratio, if your playing ut3 online try it offline and watch your fps go way up

How about the hiccips in the gameplay. LIke if I stay still and I turn there is a 'hiccup'. Is that just cuz it's a demo.

And Thanks for the responses, it helps

Well i have the 512mb version of the card and i dont have any problems at 1440x900. I run Bioshock max with no problems, and thats a better processor than mine. You wont run at full when ut3 comes out but it will run the game on med to high settings fine i think.

As stated by a previous poster, 1440x900 is not a higher resolution than 1280x1024. It is just a different aspect ratio. Simple math:

1,280 x 1,024 = 1,310,720 pixels
1,440 x 900 = 1,296,000 pixels

The performance difference (if any) between these two resolutions should be so minimal as to be unnoticeable.

Also, some people say they use non-native resolutions on LCDs and it doesn't bother them. I can always tell the difference, and it has always been unacceptable to me. I will gladly drop a few settings a notch or two to get a playable framerate at my native resolution.

Yeah, I agree on the native resolution thing. Thanks for the info.
