8600gt to 9600gt ??

My current graphic card is msi 8600gt which i bought for $100 about 6 months

ago. I can play most of the games fine between low to medium settings.

I was actually suprised that i could run Cod4 in high resolution with shadow and other stuffs turned off.

Problem is that i can't play games like crysis and other new games in high settings. so if i upgrade my graphic card

to 9600gt would i see a huge difference in performance? do u think i should spend few more bucks and get 8800gt?

i dont want to spend more than $200 on a graphic card.:roll:

The 9600GT would be a nice upgrade, but I would personally wait a few months to buy a GPU. Your 8600GT won't break any records, but it'll run most games well at medium settings. Nvidia and ATI should have the real next-generation cards out by the end of summer.BlueBirdTS

ATI may release the HD4xxx series later this year, but the rest of nVidia's 9 series is not worth waiting for.

I believe he was referring to the 10 series when he said "real next-gen." Even if that is the case I doubt the 10s will be available by the end of summer.

How is the 10 series coming out when the whole 9 series isn't out yet. They still plan to release the 9800GTS and the 9500GT.

Yeah, but that's the ugly one. I'd go for the 149.99 eVGA one (perhaps x 2) and trade 'em up in July ;)
