so right now i have an X800XL, and a friend is offering me his 8600GT 256mb GDDR3 card for like 50 dollars, so im just wondering if i'll get any fps boost. im current rig is a AMD Athlon X2 +4200 2.2ghz, Asus A8V-E Deluxe, 1 GB DDR, antec 350 watt psu. so its pretty old lol. im running games at 1920x1200. so i just want this card as a delay before i build a new rig. i just basicly wanna play CS:S with an fps boost over my x800xl. so worth it, or no? thanks in advance :D

Ya that is really high resolution...the CS:S isn't the most graphics intensive game it might be a little slow. I have an 8600gt in my laptop and it does pretty good but that is at 1280x800....I did the fps test with whichever episode of HL2 has the test and got over 75fps. HL2 is probably similar to CS:S as far as frames go but I don't know how many less you will get at that res.

the 8600GT can handle CS:S at 1920x1200 no probs, aslong as you dont have 8+XAA. i play it with my 8600GTS 1600x1200 with 8XMSAA, all high and get pretty much constant 75 FPS
