well what I plan to do is buy one of the new 8600s and run it on xp becuase I have alot of old xp games now can I run this card in xp and play dx9 games with it????? leonard_neculaIMO of course you can.... nvidia would be blowing up rather than shooting their feet if they were to make their new cards non-compatible with DX9 and XP. Especially seeing as though isnt even a DX10 game out, yet alone a DX10 only game

[QUOTE="threeb07"]Does anyone know when the 8600 ultra is suppose to be out ive heard march and may anyone know for sure?Makarii do highly doubt the 8600 ultra even exists, though.. as the rumors went, the card was a bit too good to be true. I'm hoping the ultra exists because I want to make the jump to DX10 come april/may and I don't want a 128 bit card =P. 512mb/256bit would be omg awesome for 180...it does sound too good to ber true...but I'm hopin'!

Well, the card will be a lot faster, upwards of 70% faster than a 7600GT. Thats a reason to get it.Â
Does anyone know if direct x 10 will be available on xp? If it's not then i'm definitely going for a 7 series card.george_hopkinsNope, its a vista only feature. Personally, I'm going to buy a 7900 gs, maybe a 7900 gt. I don't plan on upgrading to vista anytime soon, and I don't see what looks wrong with dx9.

It will probably be about another 2 years before we see DirectX 10 only games.
