And yes gamespot is using the 7.10 drivers for the hd 2900 so no excuses over there either.

Andisee the GTS is overclocked version but it is still quite a bit more cheaper than the 2900 XT.

Well, if you get the 2900Pro, overclock it, then it will beat the 8800 ;) Happy days!

The demo may not utlise the extra RAM of the GTS 640MB/2900 XT, but it still benefits from a faster core/G80 architecture.

Stop trying to flame bait or troll.

I play at 1280x1024 and my fps are stuck at 100fps with an hd2900xt. I think there is a limit. Oh, and also, theres other legitimate benchmarks that show different results... I tend to think GS is not a hardware website.

i'm getting pretty poor framerates (20-25 ish) with my 8800GTS 640 MB with all settings maxed at 1680x1050, whereas in Call of Duty 4 and Timeshift (demos) I consistently got 40+ fps :( Guess I'll have to turn a few settings down... boo.

I'd be more than happy running such a stunning game maxed out at 1600x1200 with an average framerate of 84.

I was really happy yo see that the 2600XT is able to run the game maxed out at what I consider a playable framerate, because that's the (probably temporary) card I'll be getting with my new PC.

The GS benchmarks did not match what I a 2900xt user was getting so I looked and found this article. The gts is clearly slower also the article has benches with diffrent cpu's and fsb speeds. Looks like GS benches can't be trusted the 2900xt was slower than the GTX by 3fps max not bad for a card that's $100 or more cheaper.

E6600@3.0Ghz, 3GB DDR2 @1000mhz, and Vista HP 32bit. I turned downa few settings (not noticible to the naked eye from what I can tell) and I get a solid 60fps ;) That's the requisite speed for a game like Unreal Gears 3. Err.... I mean UT3. (The influences are very evident....)

With catalyst 7.10 all previous DX 10 games perform better on 2900 compared to 8800 gts . Ut3 is not yet properly optimized for 2900 . we will probably see a hotfix for 7.10 for 2900 cards .harooon

agree with you.

the 7.10 doesnt increase performance for single cards.. only for Crossfire. Google PCPER, and there should be an article on that site.
