Hello fellow PC gamers, I`ve had these two 8800gs`s for about a month or two now. I like em alot, they`re XFX alpha dogs with 382mb. They shipp with 680/1700/800 clocks in the overclocked XXX edition, I have overclocked them further to 730/1825/900. I have some extra fans blowing on them to accomodate this high clock speed.

I`ve heard alot of negative comments about the card with only a little praise. I paid about the price of a 8800gt for two cards and I`d say I get alot more outta this setup than I would with a single 8800gt. In Crysis on high in DX9 mode I can average at least 30 fps and higher at 1680 x 1050 (all setting high except Object Detail Med. and Shadows Med.). I`d say that these cards aint no joke.

I was wanting to hear from anybody else with these cards to know what kinda preformance they are getting and what they can clock to . Also anyone else with other 8800 series cards please post some of your results so I can rank the preformance of this card against other cards. I will as well list some some other results and benchmarks when I have a little more time. I would appreciate some feedback as to how well this stacks up with the big dogs.

My baby`s specs are Intel C2D E4400 @ 3.0ghz, eVGA 680i SLi, 4 Gigs Crucial Ballistix 800mhz DDR2, 2x XFX 8800gs XXX Alpha Dog 384mb @ 730/1835/900, WD Caviar 500Gb HD, LiteOn DVD Burner, Ultra Aluminus ATX Mid Tower case w/lots of fans, Windows Vista Basic.

The reason many people didn't like the 8800GS (now known as the 9600GSO) is that their relatively low frame-buffer gimped them at higher resolutions. They're great cards for the price epecially at lower resolutions, and anyone who says otherwise needs to read a few more benchmarks.

How many people play games at 1900 x 1200 res? My setup runs great at 1680 x 1050. I know that this card is basically a 8800gt with a 192 bit memory interface, it has the raw processing power but it is limited by its memory. Then again you can buy two for the price of about one 8800gt and it will out preform it. I don`t think its bad card by any means when you look at the overall value it offers. I am happy with this card in SLi, and I think that is were it shines. I cant seem to find any 8800 gs sli benchmarks though to directly compare it to other cards running with identical setups.

I have one and I love it. The only game of mine I can't max is Crysis and I play that all high DX9 at 1280x1024. Here are some of my results:

Actually no offence mate but SLI 8800GS is really a bad idea as all that much processing power will be bottlenecked by 384MB VRAM.And your crysis performance actually shows that.

And 8800GT has 16 more stream processors than the 8800GS along with more VRAM and bandwitch.

My 8800gts gets around 30FPS at the same resolution in crysis, which is probably around the same price. The only disadvantage is that you have two cards instead of one. The idea that the 8800gs is a bad card is mostly due to e-peen. People always want to feel special because they have a more expensive GPU.

how is it a bad idea when all these people posting say they like their cards and play games at good rates. Yes the 8800GT is a better card but also more expensive. I can get two 8800GS for $200 with rebates or two 8800GT for $360 with rebates. Thats a big difference in price.

What I am saying is that you will never be able to harness all that processing power of SLI 8800GS due to the VRAM bottleneck.SLI does not increase your VRAM if you didnt know.A single 8800GS is already VRAM bottlenecked let alone SLI 8800GS.

2x8800GS costs $200?Well 8800GTS 512MB costs the same and I would take that over 2x8800GS.And you know SLI boards are more expensive atleast the decent ones....
