How much better in performance are the two? I want to play Crysis on very high and the 9800 looks more viable but is also more pricey.

The 9800gtx is about 10-15% faster than the 8800gt.

If you go for a video card, it should be a 8800gt or a hd4850.

Odd choice of the word "or" the HD4850 blows the 8800GT away...

Yep, ATI's new cards are one of the best deals for video cards (in price/performance) out there at the moment. I highly recommend the 4850, which is just as (and sometimes more) powerful than the 9800GTX, while costing less.

HD 4850 isn't really faster than the 9800GTX, it depends on the game you're running. I still like the GTX better because it's got better overclocking headroom and a dual slot cooler. Dual 8800GTs work better than either card in single mode though. 8800GT is probably enough to play any game now, so no worries.

Yes it is. It's even faster than an overclocked 9800gtx.
